STILL THE PRUSSIANS Hitler on Sufferance ? MILITARISTS USING HITLER. (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn., LONDON, August 9. The Vienna correspondent of “The Times” says: “The official newspaper of Dr. Kurt Schuschnigg’s Roman Catholic Strum Troops publishes authoritative disclosures of the attitude of the Reichwe hr towards Hitlerism, written bv Captain Karl Felsen, a member < German Genera Staff, who was obliged recently to leave Germany for political reasons. “Captain Felsen declares that the price of the greatest national revival in hisb-ry was Herr Hitler, General von Bloirbric and a fantastic regime which senior officers of the Reichswehr felt one day would stink the nostrils of Europe. However, th Reichswehr was supporting them conditionally, as a man puts up with his mother-in-law for rhe sake of his wife, saying ‘She won’t live long. ’ “Cynicism and biting irony reign in Reichswehr circles, who tolerate General von Blomberg but are unswervingly loyal to General Fritsch. The Commander-in-Chief of the Army never formed an alliance with Herr Hitler, whom he considers on y as a means to an end and whom he regards with reserve and distaste. “The only reason the Reichswehr does not remove this regime of blood and tears is that the High Command has its own military plans, to which all are subordinated. Everything at present is unconditionally pressed into the military liberation of the Fatherland—policy, " finance, commerce, science, sport, women’s organisation, the family and the little village fire brigades. “However, the suppressed bitterness and contempt of the Reichswehr will destroy Hitlerism when it hinders German interests, which, for some reason or other, have to follow a path over bavonets. This moment may not wait for the outbreak of war.” FEAR OF JEWISH RETALIATION. (Received August 11.7 p.m.) LONDON. August 10. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Berlin correspondent says: Herr Hitler rejected the Finance Minister, Doctor Schacht’s appeal to put a brake on the anti-Semitism in Germany. Dr. Schacht explained that he feared there would be an extension of <the American boycott. He also emphasised that the Reichswehr were behind him.
