THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON ,July 29. The weather report and forecast are as follows: — General situation: A depression of moderate intensity is advancing on to the Dominion, its centre to-day being west of the North Island. Forecast': Winds northerly to westerly, later backing to south-westerlyiu the far north; elsewhere easterly to southeasterly. Moderate to strong generally and of gale force in party of the 'Cook Strait area. Seas, in New Zealand waters: Rough north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura. and rather rough south of Kaikoura, with strong but decreasing : outhenly winds, and the sea rather rough to rough. Weather still mainly fair on the West Coast of the South Island; elsewhere unsettled, cloudy end misty with rain and some scattered heavy falls in the North Island and cold temperatures.
