William Greeni, President of the American Federation of Labour, made a statement at a mass meeting of fifty thousand workers at Madison Square Garden, that unless Labour’s de-, mands for a two years’ continuation of the N.R.A., ami other legislation, are met, organised Labour would down tools, and delcare a general strike. NEW YORK, May 24. Mr William Green. President of the American Federation of Labour, has appealed to Labour to follow the leadership of President Roosevelt. Mr Green struck at (he recent statement by ex-Preside.nt Hoover, who demanded the speedy death of the N.R.A, “ Onr Liberal Senators,'’ shouted Mr Green, “can either follow this discredited leader, and defeat the aims of Labour, or they can stand with our progressive President, and with the hosts of Labour. Labour holds that the N.R.A. must not, and can not, be either abandoned, or terminated until it has completed its work, and has fin - ’shed its task, and has returned the millions who still are unemployed back' to work. We will refuse to work, and will mobilise our entire economic strength, until we got our rights!”

As the crowd roared their approval. Mr Green threatened political retaliation against Hie members of Congress.
