Reefton juniors defeated Waiuta at Reef ton on Sunday by 18 points to nil. Fnder wretched weal her conditions Waiuta seniors defeated thp redoubtable Waratahs on Sunday to the tune of 17 points to nil. Trys were scored by Flaherty, Lockington, Sinclair, Ford and McLellan, Kerridge converting one. Afr R. Davis capably controlled the game. The bustling tactics of the Waiuta forwards had Mick Morris, Paddy Scott and Co., thinking. With short, snappy rushes they carried plav from one end to the other. Both sides handled remarkably well. Despite the greasy nature of the ball, Morris, Scott, August, Anisy, Alborn and Affleck were prominent for Waratahs. 11. Quinn (Waiuta) playing his first game of League in the full-back position, fully justified his selection. He handled well and has a hefty boot. He weighs fourteen stone and will be a serious contender for the full-back position in the representative team, after a little more experience of the code. G. Lockington (wing) put in some great work and played his best game, to date. His weakness is in tackling. E. Byrne (centre) played his usual heady game and put in some fast runs, and should be considered in the representative team. L. AfcLennan (wing) another probable for the reps., played a sound game, both on defence and attack. W. Ford (five-eighth), showed considerable improvement in Sunday’s game; cuts in nicely. R. Whyte (five-eighth) p'ayed well and handled the greasy ball without any apparent effort; has a hefty boot. J. Phillips (half) got through a lot of solid work; set his backs going smartly; a solid type of half-back. E. Kerridge (hooker) played a sound game, and should be among the first picked in the representative pack. W. Sinclair (forward) is improving with every game; looks a certainty for June
3. G. Regan (forward) did not plav with his usual dash on Sunday, however, a good type of forward. F. ’Thorn (forward) played well, but is weak <>u tackling. T. Flaherty (forward), mi improving type, put plenty of dash into his work. J. Morel (forward), a splendid type of player; injured in Sunday’s game, a severe gash on the knee, which required threclilrlies. Morel is certainly unlucky, his record for this season is three stnits, twice injured. When well he bi a certainty for representative honours. Doug. Whyte another good for-: word was not available for Sunday’? game owing 1n a minor injury. On Iho gniiics so fur, Sinclair, Kerridge, and Doug.
