THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, May 8. The weather report and forecast are as follows:— General situation: Pressure is still low to tlie east, but has risen slowly over the Dominion with the approach of an anti-cyclone. A slight depression i H passing in the south. Forecast: Winds variable at first in the southern half of the South Island; otherwise, moderate to strong, southerly -winds prevailing. Seas in New Zealand waters rough south of East Cape; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh southerly winds, and moderate to rather rough seas. Weather still with a few passing showers on the east coast between Akaroa and East Cape; elsewhere, fair to fine at first, but later some scattered showers in most. district,s, Cold tempcratures.
