FOR MORE TRADE. COMMISSIONERS IN THE EAST. (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.> (Received Mav 8 at 9.40 p.m.) CANBERRA, May 8. The Federal Government to-day appointed Mr C. E. Critchley as the Australian Trade Commissioner at Batavia, in the Netherlands East Ind4eg. Mr Critchlpy has been Assistant Trade Commissioner in Canada for six years. The Cabinet will also announce similar appointments for Tokio and Shanghai. within a few davs.

The Minister for Customs, Mr White will visit New Zealand at the end of this month to pursue trade talks.
