SAN DIEGO (California) May 4. Four were killed when the car of Mr

John Coogan, father of Jackie Coogan, the film actor, was smashed. The victims were:—John Coogan, senr.; the t hild actor. Junior Durkin; Robert Horner, of Los Angeles; and Charles Jones, foreman of the Coogan ranch.

The accident occurred late on Saturday, when the Coogan car plunged down an embankment and crashed into a pile of rocks four miles east of Buchman Springs, 59 miles east of San Diego. Jackie Coogan, the film star, and the son of John Coogan, senr., was in the car. He was injured, but not seriously. John Coogan, junr., said the car was forced from the highway by an un identified machine travelling in the opposite direction. John Coogan, junr., was in the rumble seat. Tie was not thrown out when the machine overturned. The car turned over four times. Jimi r* Durkin ami Mr Coogan senr.. were thrown out. their bodies crashing against huge rocks lining the embankment.
