Lorenzo Nodarse (Cuba) beat Daniel Hernandez (sixth on the Merican ranking list) 7/5, 3/6, 6/4. The winners will meet the winners of the match between the United States and China. Perry won the final of the men’* singles at Bournemouth hard court tennis tournament, defeating Austin 0/6, 6/4. 3/6. 6/2, 6/0. The men’s doubles were won by Malfroy and Stedman, who defeated Farquharson and Kirby 6/3, \6/2, 6/1. Perry showed impressive form, but his physical attributes chiefly enabled him to gain the victory. Finding Austin too accurate. Perry concentrated on keeping the ball in play until his opponent lost accuracy through fati gue. Austin, in the second game of the fifth set, suffered from a bad attack of cramp. The match was held up for five minutes while Perry and the officia’s massaged Austin. The Sydney “Sun” correspondent, Hopman. says: The match impressed me, firstly, with the belief tnac Perrv is sure to regain his last year’s superlative form, and secondly that Austin is still vulnerable to a player who can keep rallies going and collect one of the first three games. Women’s singles: Miss Stammers defeated Miss Scriven 6/2, 6/2. Women’s doubles: Misses Pittman and Yorke had a walk-over. Miss Dearman had influenza and retired. Mixed doubles: Tuckey and Miss Scriven had a walk-over. The Australian tennis players today began practice at Eastbourne.
