(Aus. and N.Z Cable Assn.) LONDON, May 1. The Australian tennis players arrived «'it Bournemouth. The only persons to welcome them at the station were Lawn Tennis Association officials, and Andrews of (the New Zea. land team. Andrews told the Australian Press Association that Stedman ami Malfroy will play in the singles against Australia. The doubles pair has not been chosen. Andrews has recovered from a sprained ankle.
The Now Zealand team is being coached in London. The Australians go 'to Eastbourne on May 4th, to practise for the Davis Cup tie. At Bournemouth in the men’s singles, third round, Austin defeated Avory 6/6, 6/0, 6/2; Farquharson beat Lee 1.0/8, 6/4, 6/1; Prenn beat Sharpe 7/5, 6/2. 6/1; Perry beat Peters 7/5 6/3. 9/7.
Men s doubles, first round: Farquharson and Kirby bead Sharne and Tuckey 4/6, 9/7, 2/6, 6/0, 6/3;' Perry and Butler beat W. Henderson and Lysaght 6/3, 2/6, 6/4, 6/3. Womens singles, third round: Whittingstall beat Senorita Lizana 6/3, 4/6, 6/4.
XVomen’s singles, third round: Stammers defeated Mrs Hopman 6/4, 6/3. Women’s doubles: Mrs Pitman and
Aliss Yorke beat Airs Hopman and Miss Ford 6/4, 6/2. Mixed doubles, second round: Prenn and Miss Dearman beat Peters and Airs Peters 7/5. 6/4. 9/5.
