J- Howard, a rormer well known W aiuta player, made his debut with the whistle and his decisions were well received. uta fielded a heavier pack, and this was the deciding factor, in a game in which the bucks were evenly matched. Harris, Ford, Philipps, Caldwell, {Sinclair, liegan and Ker ridge were prominent for tthe home side. Ogilvie, Cuff, luck, and Dalzell, were cuiispicuous on the Nelson Creek side. Air it. Davies, a former well-known player, capably controlled -the game. A large crowd of spectators were present, and it is evident, that the League code is in for a successful season, it may be as well in passing to remind onlookers that although no charge is made for admission, a shilling in -tthe hat would not go amiss. G. Harris;, (full-back), made a welcomed re-appearance after a cuuple of sea-.-ons with the whistle. Harris showed that he has lost none of his ability and ins goal from the side-line was one of the gems of the game. L. Played in the backs on Sunday, has plenty of speed and w eight inclined to get off-side, with training will develop. G. Regan (front row forward), another new player and is the goods. Fast, handies well, and uses his head, /Regan looks like being one of the finds of the season. A. Caldwell (forward) another new player who has plenty of speed, and a good handler, and tack ler. T. Flaherty (forward), showed considerable improvement in Sunday’s game, has gone into solid training, and is taking a keen interest in the code. T. Quinn (forward) has plenty of weight, pace, showed out in patches On Sunday, but was evidently short of training. Get some of the beef off Tom. Waiuta has a wealth of talent in the forwards. 11. Quinn. D. Whyte, and J. Morel, arc suffering

from injuries and the local pack when up to full strength, should more than hold their own with anymiug on the West C’oast. As training is essential, only those who attend practice will be considered in the selection of teams. The. club have new uniforms this season, and their smart appearance on Sunday caused favourable comment among the spectators.
