The Byrd Expedition ships, Jacob Ruppert and Bear of Oakland, sailed to-day for Panama, via Easter Island where they will rendezvous for the barquentine to call for the steamer. They were given a rousing send-off. Admiral and Mrs Byrd left by train for Wellington, and it has not yet been decided when they are leaxung the Dominion for the leader to rejoin the ships at Panama.
