CONTROL OF EDUCATION

WESTLAND TEACHERS’ RESOLUTION. FOR NATIONAL BOARD. (Our Own Correspondent). HOKITIKA, February 18. At a meeting of the Westland Branch of the New Zealand Teachers’ Institute, Mr J. L. Menzies addressed the members on the subject of the National Executive’s principle, “Order Out of Chaos.” Mjr Menzies presented a detailed analysis of. the report, and revealed what his hearers regarded as an extremely chaotic condition in the control of education. The following motion was unanimously adopted: “That, after considering the Executive’s pamphlet “Order Out of Chaos,” this Branch of the Npw Zealand Educational Institute endorses the opinion of the Executui*ve that an overhaul of education system of New Zealand is imperative, and maintain that steps should be taken to give effect 'to the National Expenditure Commission’s major educational recommendation, viz., the creation of a National Board of Education which should have full control of educational administration, and be directly responsible to Parliament.”
