Trotting Notes Auckland Trotting Club. The Auckland Trotting Club’s summer meeting, which will be held today and Wednesday next, has drawn very good acceptances, and while the racing will be confined almost solely to North Island horses, the Nelson trainer, L. F. Perkett, will nave engaged a very useful pair in Plain Pear* and Raydus. The prin ‘ipal event : s the Otahuhu Handicap, for which eight horses have been accepted for. The race is generally noted a good thing I for Worthy Light, whose brilliancy I and consistency entitle him to every

respect. He was runner-up to Roi I’Or in the Auckland Cup, and forced the winner to establish a world’s record to win. He then ran second to Jackie Thorpe over a mile and a quarter in 2m in. 41 l-ssec., and won the President’s Handicap of two mil'T. in 4min. 19scc. He is handicapped on 4min. 26sec., which represents one second penalty for brilliant victories over two miles and a mile and a quarter. Impromptu, on 48 yards behind, has shown nothing of late to recommend him for such a race, and ancient Jewel Pointer, well past his best, should find the younger horses too good for him. Kewpie’s Guy has been doing good track work, but on the handicap he should be held safe by Worthy Light.. The best of the remainder may prove to be Great Parrish, an Auckland Cup winner, who won the St. Heliers Handicap at the Auckland summer meeting. Great Parrish is a moody horse, but if at his best on the day he may act as runner-up to Worthy Light.

A Promising Pacer. Ringtrue, a four-year-old colt by Travis Axworthy from Berthabell, is trained by J. T. Paul at Epsom, and is regarded as one of the most promising young pacers in commission. Dur ing the present season he has done very little racing, and his record is a first and a second in two starts, but last year in 12 starts he won five races, was second twice, and third twice. He is a chestnut in colour and a halfbrother to Great Bingen, Peter Bingen, and Great. Parrish.

Te Kahn’s Prospects. J. T. Paul, who is making a good recovery from the severe injuries he received at the Auckland meeting, has in Te Kahu one of the most promising young trotters ever raced in New Zea land. Only four years old, Te Kahu has established a fine record, for last season in five starts he won twice and was second once, and in his only start this year he won the Oak Handicap of a mile and a half, at Auckland, in 3min 26 2-ssec. Te Kahu is by Nelson Bingen from Lottie Audubon, and is therefore a half-brother to Pegaway, At Auckland to-day, Te Kahn figures on the limit of the February Handicap, of a mile and a half, 3min. 42sec. class, and the task should not be beyond him. He looks a very likely winfler in the near future. Chancellor.

Chancellor, regarded by some Auckland sportsmen as the equal of Warbuoy, will have a chance to prove his worth when he starts against the use ful field engaged in the Moss Davis Memorial at Auckland. This race is over a mile and a quarter, for 2min. 47sec. class horses, and he will meet several useful sprinters in Jackie Thorpe, Bingen Chief and Travis. None however,, can be regarded as highclass. Proletarian. Proletarian, a three-year-old colt by Frank Worthy—Waterfall, fully extended Subsidy in the Great Northern Derby, and in being beaten half a head in 3min 23 2-ssec. he registered a performance that, draws attention to his prospects in the Waiheke Handicap at Auckland to-day. Proletarian is trained by I. R. Morrison, and well handled, he is hound to make his presence felt in his next engagement.

Confusing Names. The name Charteris Vale which appeared in the Auckland acceptances should read Charteris- Bay, a black colt by Native King—lmperial Ann, who, like Charteris Vale, was bred by Messrs Anderson Bros, at Charteris Bay. He is owned by Mrs. H. Medcalfe, of Auckland. The similarity of the naming of the two horses may well prove confusing. (Received February 15 at 7-15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, February 15. Gaine Carrington has been scratched for the Newmarket Handicap. It is understood he will be retired to the stud to avoid the ri’sk of his breaking down as the result of further attempts to prepare him for racing.
