ROYAL VISIT
MINISTERIAL REPLY. In response to the representation of Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., to the Minister of Internal Affairs, that His Royal Highness, the Duke of Gloucester, be given an opportunity to visit the Fox Glacier while on the West Coast, Mr O’Brien has now received the follow Ing reply from the Minister, which shows that the Prince will spend one night in Greymouth:— “Dear Mr O’Brien, —With regard to your representations that His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester visit Fox Glacier, I have now to state that the itinerary for the West Coast of the South Island has been recast, and It has now been decided to proceed from Nelson to Waiho by road and rail, the overnight stay occasioned being made at Greymouth. The con sequence of the rearrangement is a reduction of one night’s stay at the Glacier, which limits the sojourn there to a little over one complete day. The attractiveness of the scenery between the two Glaciers is, however, fully recognised, and this will be borne in mind when the details for Waiho are being determined. —Yours faithfully. J. Young, Minister of Internal Affairs. ’ ’
