WILD WEST PEOPLE
OFF TO THE CENTENARY. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 5. Real Red Indians and real cowboys strolled on the deck of the liner Monterey. on its arrival to-day. They are brgind for the Melbourne Centenary celebrations.
With long eagle plumes nodding majestically on their headdresses, and their cloaks thrown around them, the Indians were impertubable. Their names are Chief Willow Bird, of the Apache tribe, Colorado; Chief Big Tree, of the Seneca tribe, New York, and his wife, Moonshine; Iron Eyes, a Cherokee; High Eagle, White Eagle, and Princess Starlight. The cowboys included Johnnie Schneider, who is said •to be the best all-round cowboy in the United States, and Takirna Canutt. There was also a cowgirl, lithe and muscular, in trousers and slouch hat.
