(Our Own Correspondent). REEFTON. October 7. A party of residents and visitors went tu the Big River mine on Thursday. They state 'the reef in No. 4 level is look'ing well. It has beerdriven on for a. distance of 27 feet and maintains a width of eight feet, carrying good values all ‘the way. A piece of mullock came into the stone in the last few feet, but was fast cutting out. There w:v< a good attendance at a meeting at the Gymnasium for the purpose of discussing a. proposal to form a Gymnastic Club in Reeftou Rev. Father Spring presided. After a thorough discussion on the various matters pertaining to gymnastics H was decided °n the mo'ti-on of C. McElweo and seconded by 11. Kearns, that a club be formed. The election of officers resulted as follows: President. Rev. Father Spring; Vice-Presidents, Dr. Conlon, Dr Wicken. Messsrs B. H. Winchester, W. Blom and G. Osborne: Secretary, Mr T. F. McKenzie; Committee. Misses L. King. A. Paul, H. Mitchll, J. McMahon, Messrs A. Clark. C. McElwee. N. Orsbourn and J. Crossman. The subscriptions were fixed at senior ss. junior (under 18 years) 2s 6d. with a concession of half rates to unemployed senior members. A motion was passed that it be a recommendation to the committee that subscriptions be accepted in instalments in necessary cases. At a subsequent meeting of 'the management committee, the secretary was instructed to write for particulars and prices of necessary equipment. I-t was decided that where practicable the equipment be made locally. Tn an effort to raise funds it was decided to .hold a fo’otbaL match on October 14. the arrangements being left in the hands of 'the Secretary. At the annual meeting of the Reefton Sub-Cerutre of the Wesjt Coast Cricket Association there was a representative attendance and Mr Green was voted to the chair. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Patron, Mr K. J. Holy’oake, M.P.; President, Mr B. IT. Winchester: Vice-Presidents, Messrs J. Reiha, J. Slattery, P. O’Donnell; Secretary and Treasurer. Mr W. Blom; Management Committee. Messrs P. D. (.‘ampbell, C. McEhvee. C. Chandler. A. (’lark, IT. Kearns, B. 11. Winchester. R Yellowlees. W. Blom. Mr Cornish so nr., was elected to represent the Reef ton Sub-Centre on the Gre£"mout.h Cricket Association. A recommendation was made to 'the Management Committee that the first Competition game be played on November 5. It was resolved that the playing 'time be from 1 to 6 p'.ni. Teams for the competition were nominated as follows: Reeftou (2). Ikamatua. Waiuta and Inangahua Junction is also expected to enter. The next meeting was set down for October 30.
