British Steamer Ashore

ON CHINESE REEF. (Received October 7 a't 6.30 p.m ) IHONG KONG, October 6. The British steamer, City of Cambridge, from the United States, bound for Shanghai, has run ashore on the Pratas Reef. Her position is rendered dangerous owing to the near presence of a typhoon. A tug has been despatched from Hong Kong and IT.M.S. “Suffolk” is standing by her in readiness to proceed to thio scene if necessary.
