N.Z. FINAL. McLEAN LEADING. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, October 5. With half of the final of 1500 in the New Zealand Amateur Billiards Championship concluded, N. McLean (Christchurch) is leading A. Albertson (Lyttelton) by 190 points, the scores being: McLean 752; Albertsen 562. There was a fairly large attendance in the Returned Soldiers’ Hall tonight to witness the game, which wil l be completed to-morrow night. McLean was playing far more consistent billiards than his opponent, making effective use of the losing hazard, and soon went into the lead, retaining it until the adjournment. When he reached the score of 596, his opponent was at 407. A fine break of 62 brought the latter to 471. but. while he scored onlv eight more points, McLean went on to 735 with the assistance of a 44 break. McLean then came to a standstill when he wanted only 15 to finish the session, and before he could make the required number, Albertson had brought his score to 562.
