A Split NORTH ISLAND DECISION. (Per Press Association.) MASTERTON. October 5. North Inland wheat growers have unanimously decided l<» decline the invitation to link up with the United \Vheatgrower< Ltd , of the South Island. This decisi n was made b v their committees in Marton, Feilding. Manawatu and Wararapa. The decision fo’lows on a recent visit by two South Island representa- • ive-. of the Wliea't Purchase Board to the North Island who asked North Islam! to join up. it was felt that the North Bland glowers had nothing .«• gain.
I't was also decided to send a fl e_ pupation to the Minister of Industries and Commerce to place before him their wish to bp freed of the Wheat PurchPj ie Board’s regulations, or. if that were not possible, t° secure North Is’and representation on the Board. The Minister stated that the regulations must apply equally to both Islands. and that there is no pos ’ibility of the North Island being excluded while the Board is in existence. Regarding North Island representation, he said this was a matter for Cabinet decision.
