REFUSED A PASSPORT
STUDENT OF COMMUNISM. (Aus. & NZ. Cable Assn.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 5. Relatives of J. W. Harris, who is referred to in a telegraph message as having been refused a passport ’to the United States, deny that he was a member of the Communist Party, or that he acted as Secretary to the Party in Auckland, as alleged. They state that his interest in Communism was that of a student, and he would have been the last to favour the bringing about of any reform by violence.
