GREY COUNTY COUNCIL

MONTHLY MEETING. The montlhly meeting of the Grey County Council was held last evening, there being present Crs. J. Mulcare (Chairman). A. McDonnell, W. TOgilvie, A. Robinson, A. DtHineHan, J. Ryall, G. Blair, the Acting Engineer (Mr 11. Higgins )and 'the Clerk (Mr AL Keating). An apology was received from Cj- H. G. Carter. Accounts amounting to £2851 were passes for payment. The Public Works Department- forwarded authority for £lB7, £2 for £l, in connection with the construction of the Sla'tey Creek bridge. Messrs Hannan and Seddion advised the transfer of property rights from H. Smith ilo A. Blight, and ,L RudhaH to F. Aekland A request, from the Royal Humane Soc'iety for a donation towards their funds was referred to 't'he Finance Committee. The Alain Highway^ l Board forwarded conditions governing the proposed tar-scaling operations in regard co the letting of contracts and the payment of the Council’s proportion. Air D. F. Dennehy wrote requesting that repairs be made to the Ilochsitetter track. The letter stated that the company which he represented had already spent £40(1 in prospecting in the locality and cunt eniplated using portion of tihe old Government race, which would require timber carted to il by means of the track. The letter was referred to i - . he Act ing-Engineer for a repo rt. Mr R. Johnston. Alaher’s (’reek, wrote regarding 'the transferring of a gravel reserve in Section 3310 Waiwhero S.D. Cr R.ynll said that a verbal agreement had been made between the Enginm’r and Mr Johnston live years ag \ for the t ransferring of ithe Count\ - r( i ’or\p, where there' was no gravid, for another. Cr Ryall moved that the request he complied With and that the Acting Engineer lake the •necessary sleps to have the transfer completed. The motion was seconded by Cr Blair ami carried. McClure regarding the replacing <>f a culvert over a dra’in fronting his property a' 1 Ngahorp. was left in the hands of the Acting Engineer. Pamment for access to his farm at Payne’s Gully, referred ro the Acting Engineer at last meeting, the latter reported that he had inspected the disused tram which Mr Pamment had requested be gravelled, fut it was no>t a. road reserve, and ‘the Council could not sp.-end money on 'it. Alp Pamment con’d utilise the tram with a herse and truck. It was decided to advise Air Pamment to i‘.hat effect.
