N.Z. AIR SERVICES

SIX ROUTES. UN DE R 1N VEST IG ATT (IN. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 4. The new legislation controlling air services which has been introduced in the . House of Representatives, and which is likely to be passed before the end of the session, has improved the chances of raising capital for air services. The production of economical types of aeroplanes likely to show a profit without a subsidy, or with only a small one, has stimulated interest in commercial flying in New Zealand, ami different organisations are now considering regeular air service operations on at least six routes within the Dominion. The routes being investigated arc:--(1) Between Gisborne and Napier, linking up with the railways at the latter point and eventually extending further south. (2) Tn South West land, serving areas at present isolated and also providing quick transport for tourists. (3) Between Nelson and Wellington. (4) Between Palmerston North and Christchurch or Timaru, linking the railway services in both islands, saving 24 hours on certain interisland traffic. (5) Between Invercargill and Auckland. (6) Between Invercargill and Stewart Island. The Hawke’s Bay and West Coast services are furthest advanced, and it seems certain that both these will be in opor ation at least by this time ne.'.t year.
