Anti-Labour Senate
MR LYONS ADMITS UNFAIRNESS. MELBOURNE. October 3. Rt. Hon. J. A. Lyons, the Prime Minister, commenting ou the Federal Senate elections, which still are uncompleted. said that he intended to obtain the opinion of aR of the parties in Parliament on the subject of changing ;he system of voting for the Senate. Mr Lyons said his reason was that the present indications were that the whole of the existing vacancies in the Senate were likely to be filled by representatives of parties other than Labour. “This, of course,” said Mr Lyons, “is quite unfair. It might, at som* future date, operate in the reverse way. There is no justification for a system which would deprive Labour or any other recognised accredited Party from representation in the National Parliament.”
