THE INSULL FRAUDS

Trial Begins (Received October 3 at 5.5 p.m.) CHICAGO, October 2. Samuel Insull and sixteen of his colleagues, including his brother Martin, went on their trial in the Federal Court here to-day on the charges in connection with the collapse of their vast Utility holdings in 1932. The group are specifically charged with using the Federal mails to defraud investors of 143,000,000 dollars, that being the amount of the issue of stock that was sold after Insull allegedly knew that the Utility Company was insolvent.
