STEPPED ON RAILWAY
FARM HAND'S DEATH. TEAROHA, October 3. This afternoon Sid Vernon, aged 24. single, form hand, working for Mr Maurice Fitzgerald, of Mangaiti', i three miles from Tearoha. met with fatal injuries. Vernon was silting on a bank near the railway line and 'when the Taneatua-to-Auek'.and express was approaching Mangaiti. he stepped on the line, was struck by the cowcatcher. and sustained a fractured skull.
