Miss Gloria Minoprio has proved t<: be the first woman to win a chantpionship round using only one chib Her first endeavour to do so. last year, created a sensation on the links, and this year, using a club which \va> something between a cleek ami a Number One iron, she defeated Miss Betty Somerville, 2 and 1. in the English women’s championship at Skegness. Her opponent used the full set. Miss Minoprio frequently outdrove Miss Somerville, and she putted accurately. A large gallery followed the players, they being attracted as much by Miss Minoprio’s costume as by her play. She wore tight-fitting, smartly <-reased. blue trousers, strapped beneath blue suede shoes; also a white jumper, gloves, and a blue beret.
