VACCINE FROM MONKEYS

For Infantile Paralysis U.S.A. DOCTORS CLAIM. (Aus & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received August 19 at 5.5 p.m.) PHILADELPHIA, August 16. After three years’ experimenting with monkeys, Doctor John Kohlmer, Professor of Medicine at Temple University, has announced a successful method of vaccinating human beings to immune them from infantile paralysis. He uses a vaccine prepared from the spinal cords of the monkey. Dr. Kohlmer already has vaccinated himself and an assistant, the operation only resulting in a slight soreness of the arm. He said he expected that such innoculation would eventually become a standard practice in infancy.
