The Judge, Mrs Triggs, said that this class was not. up to last year’s standard. There were many wrong steps. The positions were the trouble. The foot, should be turned on the ground. Mrs Triggs said that the standard in this section had been very high. The winner had given a splendid performance. Her time and balance were almost perfect. The second competitor also did very well, but danced a little too quick, and the fourth aerial position was rather low. The third competitor had very good positions, but danced much too quickly. A general weakness was that the interpreta tion was much too fast. She requested that the winners bo asked to dance in the evening, so as to give the public an idea of a. first-class Sean Triubhais.

The competitors, said the judge, could have put more feeling into their work and thus made the story more arresting. The winner gave a very good performance nf a difficult, monologue, and handled it with great skill. The best, choice of monologue was “Annabel Lee,” the piece, chosen by the competitors who lied for third place, but they could have said it more convincingly and feelingly.

ILc.: Miss Esme Strongman, 75prts (test) and 72pts (own selection), total 147 pts. The judge. Mr Lester, said the winner’s performance was excellent, while the second placed competitor was very good. He considered that the third placed competitor was very promising and in the future would go far. He added that as regards the whole class he never saw such a wonderful improvement in twelve months.
