The main object is to devise ways and means of stimulating touri<<t traffic from overseas to the Dominion, and of meeting the varied tastes of visitors in the matter of scenic attractions. accommodation and transpi rt. It was agreed almost unanimously that the proced ngs should *»e in camera, and that a statement covpiing the re-ults achieved should be

made later. The Minister said that they did not wish to keep anything back from the Press, but he was Inclined to think the proceedings would be mainly of a business nature, and would be facilitated if heard in committee LATER. The fo’lowing resolution was adopted by the conference of sixty delegates interested In the tourist industry today:— “That the Government and the private interests involved in tourist and publicity matters in New Zealand bo co-ordinated; first, bv placing .the Tourist Department under the control (f a Board, separated frtJm the Public Service; that, by developing all of the interests affected for the purpose of bringing tourists to, and caring for them in New Zealand; and that a committee comprising Hon. J. McLeod. Messrs C. A. L. Treadwe’l, H. 11. Sterling and IL J. Knight present tl: e resolution to the Government.”
