MELBOURNE, August Im The steamer Harmatris called unexpectedly at Portland harbour, on what was intended, as a non-stop voyage from Port Kembla to Europe, with a full cargo of wheat. After leaving Port Kembla. three stowaways were discovered aboard. With the present trend in wheat p:. ces. was essential that the Ifarmatri> waste no time. She stopped at Port ’and therefore, because only asligu: deviation from her course was necessary. The stowaways were landed <»>: the beach in a small boat and lef to their dwn resources. ADELAIDE. August 15. A record high tide swept up by a storm flooded the main shopping centre of Port A gust a. Fish from the sea were caught by residents as they swam through the street. The water was several feet deep in some shops An old couple were rescued by boa 1 , from their home where the -water w;. two feet deep. The couple were still asleep when the rescuers arrived.
