AUSTRALIAN ORANGES

RUSHED AT INVERCARGILL. (Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL. August 15. The first shipment of Berri oranges and South Australian mandarines under an arrangement recently made between the New Zealand and Australian Governments reached In verrargill last evening, and the supply, which consisted of 650 cases, was sold in the auction rooms to-day. The fruit arrived in excellent condition, p.nd attracted extremely k«en competition from retailers. By the end of the morning, there was not a case left in the auction rooms. Some shopkeepers were unable to obtain their requirements and the opinion was generally expressed that a supply of about 1.000 cases would have been more in keeping with the needs of the Invercargill market. The prices realised, although not unduly high in the circumstances, were in keeping with the demand.
