COMMERCIAL AIR TRANSPORT. RUGBY, August 13. The London Chamber of Commerce has submitted to the Air Ministry a scheme for developing in Britain a regular system of commercial a : r transport. The Chamber suggests the ground equipment and traffic control of the British air routes should be vested in a, statutory body on which thp Air Ministry. General Po.s'Office, aircraft operators’ insurance and commercial interests should be r- - presented. This body should administer the finances necessary for equip ping and maintaining of air routes with wireless, lighting, meteorologies-J and traffic control services, and should with appropriate authorities, plan the principal air routes and aerodromes in the country, having regard to the present and future needs. The Chamber hopes the plan will encourage local authorities to provid e aerodromes, and the Government might provide eerta’n financial guarantees for raising loans by local authorities for this purpose. The memorandum suggests the duties of the proposed statutory body should include consideration of matters affecting Imperial air routes.
