MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The weekly meeting of the Management (’ommittee of the West Const Rugby Union was field last evening. Present: Messrs J. Guy (acting (’fiairn an), r r. Mclntosh, W. Williams. F. In response, the visitors thanked the Union for the hospitality being shown th|e touring side, and expressed the wish that the visitors would give the Coast side a gfood try-out for the first Seddon Shield challenge. Regret was expressed by the visitors at the illness of the President. The Secretary reported that a deputa.tijon had waited on the Main School teachers in charge of Rugby, and that it had been decided to enter a team for the schools’ tournament at Nelson. The withdrawal of the Kumara senior team was accepted. It was resolved to support the Marlborough Union’s application to have a ’match, played <at Blenheim between the AM Blacks on their return from Australia, and a combined Seddon Shield Districts’ team. The Blaketown Club forwarded iprotest against the Star Club playing a Blaketown player, E. Tones, in a fourth grade match against Blaketown on Saturday.

Kania were appointed to select third grade teams on Saturday to play White Star (Westport) ami Reefton representative third grade teams on August 1.1. It was decided that the selectors pick fihe West Coast team to play Marlborough on August 11, on Saturday night next, all players to assemble at Greymouth on Wednesday evening August 8. Mr F Eggleton was appointed manager of the West Coast team to play Bush Union to-day, the Coast team to assemble at the Park Hotel at 1.45 p.m, F. Freitas was appointed captain and B. Scandrett vice-captain of the West Coast team. It was decided to enterta'ih the West Coast pTayers at dinner with the Bush Union side this evening at 7 o’clock at Bevington’s Hotel. Mr Williams complained that there was. no broadcast of bast. Saturday’s matches. It was decided to bring the matter under the notice of the broadcasting authorities in Greymouth It was decidied that th« final of the Menilor .championship between Blaketown and United, who are- even, be played on August 18, and commence a one-round competition for the Citizens’ Shield on Saturday next. To-day’s match, with such excellent weather prospects promises to be a game well worth witnessing. The Coast sidle is «■ strong on e and should make a good impression. Me Neight is unavailable and will be replaced by J- Jones. The curtainraiser between Grey Main and Hokitika Primary Schools should provide an intieresting match. The members of the visiting Bush Union team yesterday morning eng-ag ed in practice at Rugby Park, and their efforts indicated they should to-day give a good account of themselves. On Monday evening the visitors were entertained at the Opera House pictures. Yesterday afternoon several" members of the team visited the dredge at Camerons, whilst a visit of inspection was paid to the James colliery. Last evening the team were the guests at the ball in Schaef’s Hall in aid of the wireless fund for th? Old People’s Home. This morning, a vi. will be paid to the Brian Boru dredge, whilst this evening they W’!! be the guests at <i danc e at Herb Moore’s. The manager (Mr K.
