It is learned that the French Ambassador sought an explanation from the British Government respecting recent German orders given to Bn tish firms for eight aeroplane engines. It is understood that he received the reply that the British Government always sought to dis criminate between engines ijitiended f«or military- use and civil use, but such discrimination was difficult in practice, especially in the case of a State that was disclaiming the possession of any military aeroplanes.
