The Pari’a merit ary Committee ct the Conservative Party have appealed to the Government to aid the B’i tish live stock industry in a simi'.ai manner to the British wheat fount ’. They proposed to have a subsidy paid on meat 'On the basis of • per cwt for cattle and 56s c.wt for sheep, which would bo raised by a lew of one penny per pound onil imported meat, this producing £6,500,000 in a normal year.
