Abolition Bill OPPOSITION CRITICISM (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON. May 2. The Loader of the Opposition, Mr Cosgrove, in th? Dail Eireann, moved an amendment to ’.ho Senate Abolition Rill making a thred-fifths majority vote of the D'ail necessary’ to the removal of ;ii,v member of the judiciary. Mr O’Higgins pointed out that failing such a precaution, the wobbling ■will of one man would rule throughout the country and his vim.irtivcness would decide everyone’s destiny. Mr Fitzgerald declared that the bill, if enacted, would give Mr De Valera more power than the Tsar o l ' any European Government. thus obviating the necessity of his ever again facing the electors. Mr De Valera applied the closure. The amendment of Mr Cosgrave was defeated by 58 votes to 42.
