SURFING

GREY CLUB MEETS. At a meeting of the Groyinouth Surf and Life-Saving Club there were present Messrs J. B. Kent (chairman), Smith, Affleck. Scott (3), Moss, Gilbert. Price, Hall, Olsen. Richardson and Costello. The Greymouth Harbour Board advised that the Club had been granted the control of the beach, and the right to appoint a beach inspector. Mr Scott moved, and Mr Thorpy seconded, that an invitation be sent to the Vice-Presidents, the Member for the District, Mayor and Councillors, Harbour Board and members to be present at the Demonstration on February 25th. Messrs Thorpy Costello and the Secretary (T. Lawry) were appointed to attend to the advertising of the Gala. The painting of the reel was left in thp hands of Mr Kent, and the construction of the look-out tower to Mr Price. Mr H. Scott moved that the Swimming Centre be notified that the Surf Club had no objection to their holding the river race on February 25. The motion was seconded by Mr G. Scott. I Mr Thorpy moved an amendment that the Surf Club not approve of thp race, being held on that date. The amendment wAs seconded by Mr Price. On being put to the vote the motion was lost and the amendment carried. Messrs Lawry, Thorpy and Richardson were appointed a selection committee. It was decided that badges he issued to the members of the teams. The next meeting of the Club was
