His family had no suspicions that he was swallowing things until an operation on Tuesday revealed two hundred nails, forty-three gramophone needles, six teaspoons, six brace buckles, some money, three door keys, a live revolver bullet, three pen knives, ten safety pins, six bolts, a buttonhook, a motor car tyre valve, four studs, nine screws and seven curtain rings. The evidence showed that the man had a delusion that his stomach was too smooth. A verdict of death by misadventure yyas returned.
