FIRE AT GORE. (Per Press Association). # GORE, June 7. File ext' nsively damaged three buildings in Main Street, Gore, early this morning. The outbreak occurred in W. Greaves’ book exchange, which was completely destroyed. A. A. Rose’s bool-shop, adjoining, was extensively ilamaged. The stock was practically ruined. W. Turnbull’s saddlery adjacent, wa s partially damaged by fire and water. Bose’s and Gr<‘ave’> shops were owned by Rose. The insurance was £50(1, and on Rose’s stock. £2200. Greaves had no insurance. Turnbull’s insurance is not known. WATERSIDER’S THEFTS. WELLINGTON, June 7. A watersidcr, William John Murdoch, 46. was fined £5, by Air Page. S M., for theft of three wireless valves, th' 1 property of the New Zealand Shippi ig Co. The police stated that when the consignment was landed, fifty were missing It w’as learned that accused had sold three valves to a friend for t<‘B shillings, and these proved to be some ol the missing ones. Accused, when interviewed said he found the valves while working in the hold on the day the consignment was being dis charged. Default was fixed at a month’s imprisonment.
