BACK TO NORMAL
SHIPPING POSITION Further Fumigations ! (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, May 14. The shipping position is back to normal again at Wellington. There are only four vessels affected by the hold-up' which have not yet signed on Union crews, they being the Monowai, Maunganui. Kaitoa and Echo. The Kaitoa will sign on a crew tomorrow. when she will resume her running in the Nelson ferry service. The auxiliary scow Echo loft here last Friday for Blenheim with a volunteer crew, and arrived back to-day. As was the ease with the Tamahine, the Echo's Union crew refused to man tlie vessel until their quarters had been fumigated and cleaned out. This was done to-day. The Maunganui is due Mere to-mor-row. She is manned by a volunteer crew, who will be signed off-fo-morrow. As with the Tamahine Echo, the Union crew will, no doubt}, indicate that their quarters must be fumigated before they can occupy them.* With the exception of the all other ships left port on Saturday. Two of the Wainui’s crew had gone south during the hold-up. and only arrived back at Wellington by the Rangatira to-day. They re-joined the ship immediately. She left at 8-30 a.nt for Bluff and Melbourne. The Waikawa was similarly delayed at Lyttelton, a number of the crew returning to Auckland, where they had signed on.
