COLONIAL SUGAR CO. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn ) SYDNEY May 3. At the meeting of the Colonial Sugar Refining Co., Ltd.. the official announcement was made of the retirement in February last of Edward William Knox, as Chairman and Managing Director of this Company. Appreciative references /were made To his services, and the part he had played in the Company’s success. The “Herald,” in a tribute, says that his retirement marks the close of a distinguished career with the Company, of more than 69 years. The sugar industry as a whole was indebted to him for its technical effiiciency and present status. He was also actively associated in the development on sound lines, of large agricultural areas in Queensland and Northern New South Wales. WESTRALIAN SECESSION. PERTH, May 4. It is announced that the Ilawkesbury Agricultural College Jersey cow, Wagga Gladys, has regained from the New Zealand cow, Woodlands Fence, the world record for butter-fat production, having i n 365 days’ test produced 22,574A1b. of milk aud 1259.66 lbs. of birttcr-fat. The New Zealander’s record had been 12201b5.
