OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. “RED DUST.” “Red Dust,” with Clark Gable and Jean Harlow in the loading roles, will be finally screened to-night. “Fighting Marshal” and the next chapter of the new serial will be shown at the matinee only. MONDAY AND TUESDAY. “THE MAN WHO PLAYED GOD.” George Arliss collaborated with Julian Josephson and Maude Howell on the script of “The Man Who Played God.” He gave particular attention to the role of Royale, the musician, played by himself. Mr Arliss wrote the entire part, which presents him in a strikingly original and daring character. “The Man Who Played God” has two leading feminine roles, enacted by Violet Heining and Bette Davis. One of the many letters of appreciation received was from The Parsonage, Crows Nest, date 24th June, 1932, viz: “I wish to express my thanks for your invitation to view private screening of the picture ‘The Man Who Played God.’ J class it the best picture I have ever seen. It does you credit. A picture of that standard must be productive of much good. Congratulations on such a splendid production. (Signed) W. M. WALLSEND SUNDAY. “Husband’s Holiday” will be screened at Wallsend on Sunday night. BICYCLE SPORTS TODAY, Good entertainment will bo provided at Victoria Park this afternoon when the leading riders of the district will compete in an interesting series of cycle races. Good entries have been received, and interest will be added by the first appearencc of Hubert Turtill since his return from Australia, and races will also be run for juvenile riders and youths undt--IS years.
