REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT NOT ENTERTAINED (per Press Association). WELLINGTON, March 0. Representations were ' made to day on behalf of the B. Class Broadcasting Stations concerning the use of gramophone records, and also the need for extending the regulations covering sponsored programmes by a num ber of Members of Parliament, who waited on the Postmaster General, Mr. A Hamilton, and th© Chairman of the Broadcasting Board, Mr. 11. A. Vickery. The deputation sought to have the P> Stations .placed on the same basis as the A. class Stations. The Postmaster General repeated a statement, he made to Parliament that he did not consider that Government interference would be justified, and that the dispute between the manufacturers of the gramophone records and the B. class Stations was a matter for private negotiation. He added, however, that he was watching the position carefully. LOSS FOR AMALGAMATED WIRELESS. CANBERRA, March 9. The Commonwealth Government has notified the Amalgamated Wireless of Australasia. Limited, of its intention to terminate the agreement covering patent rights for which the Government is paying £60,000 per year. An official statement is promised shortly.
