REWANUI TRAGEDY
Stationmaster Killed FALL FROM MINE BINS. Early thi s morning a very sad tragedy was revealed at Rewanui, the victim being Air W, R. Tyne, Station master at Rewanui. The kite Air Lyne, who came only last week to Rewanui on transfer from Timaru. had taken up his duties on Friday
Last night bo evidently w:e having a look around the locality, but as he had not returned home by a quarter to twelve, Mrs Lyne became anxious, and shj therefore eal’ed up Mr Monk, the Rewanui Railway Surfaceman, and informed him of her husband ’< ab sence. Upon makiaj a careful arch, Air Monk, after about half an hour, reached the bPn;* if Duggan’s c•operative, mine, situated at the rear of the Rewanui railway station, across the creek, and there at 12.35 a .in. he came upon the dead body of the missing man. The position of the body and the fact of life being extinct at once in<ii rated quite convincingly that the deceased had fallen from the top' of the binns structure, which rises to a height of one hundred and fifty feet. He had no doubt, been making an examina tion of the structure and had lost his balance, fulling to the ground. The police were then communicated with, and Constable Houston proceeded to Rewanui. and an inquest will no doubt be held to-day.
The late Air Lyne leaves a widow and. a family of two daughters. He had been stationed for sonic time <it Timaru before his transfer to the West Coast. The greatest sympathy will be felt for the bereaved wife and family in their tragic loss
