Norman J'ux has rejoined the ranks of active workers at Addington, and he bears the appearance of having done well during his spell. The Roy de Oro—Britt Audubon filly, also belonging to T. G. Fox, has for some time been in the charge of G. McKendry under whom she has made good improvement.. Although small, she gives promise of developing into a useful per former. G. Mouritz, who has acted in the ca-| . pacity of trainer of Air J. R. AlcKen-I zie ’ shorses at Royden Lodge, has re-* linquished that position. Muriel De Oro has raced most consistently of late, having run only once uniplaecd since the opening day of thc '‘anterburv Park fixture in January. Since then she has won two twomile races the principal event on the second day at Forbury and thc principal event at Addington last Saturday and has been second twice and third twice. She is a six-year-old by Rcy de Oro from Bel le. McKinney, and her recent efforts have been easily the best since she was a three-year-old, during which season she won five races. Since then and until this season she won only one pace, but a notable effort on her part : was to finish second, in Royal Silk 's Auckland Cup in 1931. This mare is
owned by Mr W. E. Simes, her breeder and has been in no other hands than those of I'- »• Holmes. Mr. Simes purchased her dam in America in 1922. Belle McKinney is by Hay McKinney. by Hal B from Juliet by McKinney, and her dam is Ora Belle-, by Nutford from Greycloud. Included in her (progeny are Shirley McKinney hy Logan Pointer. Tijuana by Drusus, I and Kdna "Worthy by Travis Ax worthy.
There is also a chestnut colt, a rising- three-ycar-old by Rcy de Oro, so a full-brotlier to Muriel de Oro.
Among the nominations received for the New Brighton Meeting is that of Olson,, who by his displays at the Greyniouth Meeting last month drew attention to his future prosßeets. Orginally raced as a pacer, he was last season converted to the trotting gait, and recent performances at that gait suggest that he xvill pay his way. He is a five-year j o’ld gelding by Sonoma Harvester from Olive Huon.
On his Christmas form Pagcnt must i be given a great chance in the Ota-! huhu Handicap at the approaching Auckland Meeting, and with Kcwpic’s Guy also entered, F. G. Smith should have a strong hand. Kewpie’s Guy has not shown much form since her sunprise win in the Te Aroha Cup last April but she .may be in better form as the autumn season advances (says the ‘‘New Zealand Herald”). A reproduction of Christmas form would make Pageant very dangerous. He was three times in the money and recorded 4min 25 2-ssee xvhen he finished third to Nelson's ' Victory and Brent light in the President’s Handicap. As the two who beat him are missing on this occasion Pageant shou’d go very close to winning. Pageant, First Flight, and Silver de Oro are early northern selections.
