TOBACCO DUTY
N.Z. GROWERS' PROTEST. CPer Press Association). WELLINGTON. February 16 Further consideration of the duty recently imposed on tobacco was pro tr.iscd by Mr Coates and Mr Forbes, to-day, to the Nelson tobacco growers’ deputation, which asked that the duty on imported cigarettes be increased in proportion to the increase .placed on the New Zealand product. Mr Coates said the Government was anxious to do nothing to jeopardise a New Zealand industry, and had taken all the factors into consideration when making the decision.
