(Our Own Correspondent.} REEFTON, June 29. Th e weather has changed here since yesterday. This morning saw many water tap's frozen, but the rain had gone. Al Big River yesterday there was five inches of snow on the ground. The ranges wer f . all snow-covered to a good depth. A general me, ting of the Reef ton Old Girls’ Basketball Association was hold at the Schoolroom, last evening, when a large, number of enthusiasts were present. Miss Hutton being in thr? chair. The election of officers resulted us follows:— President. Miss Hutton,; VicePresidents: Mrs 3. Panckhurst, Miss 1. Kearns, Miss E. Stallard, Mr W. S. Pratt, and Mr W. Hunt ; Captain, Miss Clenda Panckhurst; Vice-Captain. Miss Con nil? Panckhurst; Secretary, Miss G. McKane; General Committee: Misses C. Panckhurst (2), Hutton, P. Collins, C. Woods, S. Olsen, M., Patterson,, O. Dobson, and G. McKane. The subscriptions were fixej at 2/6 per member and tho club’s colours are to be brown and gold. The death took place at Reefton Hospital yesterday afternoon of Mr Thomas Watt, a well known resident of the d strict. An enjoyable time was spent with dancing ami elocutionary items. Music was provided bv Mrs Tate, Messrs Mellet, Bourke. ami Andrews. Songs were* given by Miss Ruby Tate, and recitations by Misses Wadsworth and Brewins, who figuratively brought the house down. Mr Leo Bell referred to the good qualities of the departing gu»est, who had’ la light in their midst for two years. Mr James O’Regan presented the guest v. it h a. blouse ease and a well-filled envelope. Miss Brewins. who was greeted with musical honours, thanked all for their evening and for th c gift. Although she was not sorry to move on, for the shift meant going home, she would ever remember the West Coast and the kindness of the people.
