BASKETBALL

In the first round of the “A” grade primary school basketball competition. there, were six games at Hokitika on Saturday, the following being the detailed results:— First draw: Hokitika 4 points, Runanga 8; Grey Convent 4, Grey Main 8. Second draw: Runanga 0, Grey Main 4; Hokitika 4, Grey Convent fi. Third draw: Hokitika 4, Grey Main 12; Grey Convent 2, Runanga 4. The positions of the four teams now are:—

The visiting teachers were entertained to morning tea by Misses Bell, Wild and Dale, of Hokitika School, and the visiting teams were entertained by the children of the Hokitika School. The first round of the “B” grade compels t ion will be held in Greymouth on Saturday next.
