FORTHCOMING FIXTURES. RACING. May 4,5 —Egmont R.C. May 12, 14—Wanganui J.C. May 13, 14—Southland R.C. May 14—Waipa R.C. TROTTING. May 5, 7—Forbury Park T.C. Winter. May 7—Cambridge T.C. Annual. RACING. L. G. Morris will race that good sprinter, Consent, over the hurdles at the coining Egmont meeting. A solid horse, Consent can carry weight, and being by Acre, it would not be surprising were he to turn out a very useful jumper. His first public appearance as a hurdler will be watched with interest. Standfast is being given a special preparation for the Great Northern Hurdles, and he will be a very fit horse by the time that race comes up for decision. On the showings he has so far made Standfast is going to make a good hurdler. Mount Shannon, who was a rank failure on the flat, is another to be given a trial at the jumping game. He has not schooled very Impressive!}’ as yet, but is expected to do better with a little confidence. T. R. George has made a start on the schooling of Appledore, and this horse, another rank failure on the flat, will probably be seen out at the Egmont meeting.

Mountain Heath, who when, first raced over the sticks last season, showed great promise, but who later had to be spelled, is now being hacked about in preparation for the new season. He appears to be quite sound again, and, if he stands up to another preparation, should do well.
