COur Own Correspondent.) REEFTON, April 27. The Greymouth Jockey Club, which has decided upon holding a day’s racing at Omoto on June 3rd, offering £4OO in stakes for seven events, has asked the Reefton Club to assist by also holding a day’s racing in Reefton about the same time. The request will be dealt with at the Committee meeting this evening. There arc many for, as well as against, the proposition, and it cannot be gainsaid that it does not bring a lot of foreign capital into the district. The nomination of candidates for the Inangahua County Council and for the Inangahua Hospital Board close on Friday. Mrs Bell presided over a good attendance of members of the Reefton Women’s Institute yesterday afternoon and four new members were elected. A trophy was donated by Miss Gibson for competition among the members. Mrs Bell gave an interesting talk on her recent visit to Christchurch as the delegate. Mrs A. Watson was appointed delegate to the Dominion Conference to be held in Wellington in July. A most instructive demonstration was given by Mrs 11. Campbell in the- making of lamp shades, and this was followed with much interest by all. A most successful “Bring and Buy” was held, the fends benefiting considerably. An enjoyable afternoon tea was partaken of after which a social half-hour was spent, thus bringing a most enjoyable afternoon to a close.
